About Institution

"Ammapettai's Shri Sathya Sai Medical College resides amidst a picturesque landscape, which is geographically accessible on the Tiruporur Guduvancherry Main Road. It is recessionably a few kilometers, 45 to be precise, from the Chennai Central Railway Station and 28 kilometers from Chennai International Airport hence making it relatively well served by the cities surrounding it and more so integrally to Chennai Metropolitan city via the OMR-IT corridor rajiv Gandhi Salai.

Standards and Research Capabilities

Established in 2008, SSSMCRI has adeptly crafted her position within a reasonable time frame as one of the 😉 best medical educators and researchers across the globe. The institution offers an MBBS course and is a constituent member of Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University, Puducherry. It bears the approval of Medical Council of India (MCI) and University Grants Commission (UGC) 2. Research is one of the focus areas of SSSMCRI employees, with the total of 37 papers presented at conferences and 662 contributions to Scopus pertaining to SSSMCRI till 2022. In the last two years alone, apart from 3 books authored adhering to national and international standards, the faculty has published tens of articles in national (96) and international (42) journals."

Campus Infrastructure

The area of the campus is more than 135 acres and includes a hospital, a medical college, an administrative block, hostels, nurse’s quarters, staff quarters, a club center, a swimming pool, and a guest house. The self-contained and well-integrated design is competitive. SSSMCRI has a well-maintained infrastructure and an environment that is clean, green and conducive for learning.

Clinical Exposure

The hospital is providing 12 OPDs, treating an average of 2, 246 patients per day, and makes certain that the students are almost thoroughly practical oriented. Final year students, under the supervision of senior medical personnel, see an average of 50 patients in different OPDs, for practice.

Student Life and Accommodation

Apart from the academic and research facilities which have earned much praise, students reviews include complaints about hostel facilities and mess food. Students report that the basic necessities like hostel lodging and water supply is scanty, and furthermore, the mess food is also rated poorly. Even so, the research and educational value at SSSMCRI are seen to have positive attributes.

Conclusion

Shri Sathya Sai Medical College and Research Institute has emerged as one of the best medical colleges in TamilNadu, providing good education, ample opportunities for research and clinical services. There are some few restrictions regarding the hostel facilities, but still the college’s overall reputation in terms of academic standards and student development is sufficiently high to retrieve the attention of emerging medical practitioners.
